About the Foundation

South Asian SOAR is a national collective dedicated to ending gender-based violence in South Asian communities across the U.S.
Founded in 2021, SOAR emerged from decades of grassroots activism and the urgent need for collective action. Our work focuses on strengthening survivor services, supporting the leadership of survivors and allies, and shifting culture —through capacity building, research & advocacy, survivor storytelling, and organizing. We are a network of 45+ frontline organizations and 200+ survivors and allies working together to build a world where all South Asians can experience joy, healing, and justice.

Why We Support #StandWithHer

Violence isn’t just an individual experience—it’s a collective crisis that requires a collective response. That’s why we named SOAR: Survivors, Organizations, and Allies Rising. Ending gender-based violence isn’t just the responsibility of survivors or service providers—it takes all of us.
This campaign speaks directly to that collective responsibility. Survivors must be centered and supported. Family and friends must be ready to act as allies. And our broader communities must be informed and engaged as sites of prevention.
We joined #StandWithHer because it calls on all of us to rise together. No one should face violence alone, and no one should fight it alone either.

What We Hope to Achieve

We hope this campaign moves people from awareness to action. Survivors don’t just need visibility—they need real resources, policy change, and sustained support to heal and rebuild.
Through this campaign, we want to see:
  • Increased funding for frontline organizations providing direct services
  • More people stepping up—as donors, advocates, and volunteers
  • Cultural and systemic change that addresses the root causes of gender-based violence

Join the movement. #StandWithHer.

Imagine a world free of gender-based violence. Join us in building it.
