Sakhi for South Asian Survivors is a survivor-led, survivor-centered movement dedicated to working alongside South Asian and Indo-Caribbean survivors of gender-based violence. Founded 36 years ago, we believe in the power of survivors to lead change—not just for themselves, but for our entire community. We see advocacy, community mobilization, and direct work with survivors as the pathways to transformational change at the individual, communal, and systemic levels. Our work is rooted in the understanding that justice, healing, and safety must be accessible to all, and we are committed to dismantling the structural barriers that perpetuate violence and silence.
