Policy Awareness

Mobilizing Communities through Policy Awareness

Our policy awareness work is grounded in the lived experiences of survivors, supporting real-world solutions for a future free of gender-based violence. Through a powerful coalition with creative leaders, advocates, and allies, we raise awareness and mobilize communities to support policies that strengthen resources and expand life-saving services. We know change happens when everyday people get involved, so we provide tools and pathways for civic engagement—turning awareness into action.

Uplifting solutions for a world free of gender-based violence

#StandWithHer mobilizes communities to drive real change through connection, advocacy, and action. Here’s how we do it:

• Build a powerful coalition that mobilizes communities to advance policies that expand services, strengthen protections, and prevent gender-based violence. By connecting artists, advocates, survivors, and allies, we create a united force that brings local and national attention to solutions that save lives.

• Amplify the voices and needs of the domestic violence and sexual assault field, ensuring resources and policies truly keep survivors safe. We elevate on-the-ground expertise from service providers and survivors so decision-makers understand what’s needed to meet the moment and strengthen safety nets.

• Equip individuals everywhere with tools to take meaningful action—locally and globally—to stand with and advocate for survivors. Through community dialogue and advocacy toolkits, we turn awareness into action so that every person knows how they can be part of the solution.

• Convene community dialogues that use storytelling as a catalyst for change, hosting film screenings, college events, and local gatherings that spark conversation about the power of every voice to influence policy and create safer communities. These dialogues help people see their own power and connect their stories to collective action.

• Launch our signature Postcard Campaign, transforming a national petition to protect funding into powerful messages for Congress. Each signature is turned into a postcard sent directly to lawmakers, sharing survivor stories and community priorities from their own districts. This effort turns collective voices into action, giving people across the country the power to share their own stories and use them to drive change—standing with survivors and championing the resources every community needs to heal and thrive.

• Lead the Orange Ribbon Survivor Coalition in India, driving large-scale public campaigns that place survivor leadership at the forefront of change. By elevating survivor voices in one of the world’s largest and most populous countries, we show how local leadership can inspire global momentum.

Add your story. Add your voice. Make change.

Join our postcard petition and turn your support into action. When you sign, your name becomes a postcard delivered directly to Congress—urging them to protect vital funding and stand with survivors. Over 17,000 people have already taken this stand. Add your voice today, invite others to sign, and help send a message Congress can’t ignore.

Advocating for Sustained Funding

At #StandWithHer, we fight to ensure that survivors everywhere have the resources they need—not just today, but for the long haul.

• We push for strong, reliable funding to keep life-saving services open, strengthen prevention programs, and build the support systems survivors can count on. We call on leaders to not only protect current funding but to grow it—so every survivor has a real chance to heal, rebuild, and thrive.

Stay Connected. Take Action.

Change starts with all of us and it grows when we stay connected. Follow #StandWithHer as we uplift the voices and needs of the gender-based violence field and share ways to take action.

• Follow along: Stay connected on social media to see how communities are standing up for survivors and creating change.

• Sign up for updates: Get policy alerts, tools, and resources so you know exactly what actions make a difference—whether that’s contacting your elected officials, showing up locally, or sharing your story.

• Spread the word: Share our postcard petition with your friends, family, and networks so we can reach our goal of 25,000 postcards to Congress. Together, we can make sure survivors are heard.
